New pattern: The Valley jumpsuit

list In Articles On

I am very excited to finally be able to announce the Valley jumpsuit is finally online! This easy-to-sew and wear jumpsuit will accompany you during the mid-season if made from a light denim or during summer if made from linen. It was developed in collaboration with the Australian magazine Peppermint

For this pattern, the Peppermint team gave me the mission to develop a jumpsuit with a loose and straight shape, cinched at the waist by an elastic. For my part, I was keen to create a pattern easy to sew, that requires few adjustments and with very few pattern pieces. The pattern is only composed of three pattern pieces. One piece for the front and back bodice, one piece for the pants and one piece for the pocket! The pants therefore have no side seams and the bodice does not have shoulder seams.

PATTERN DIFFICULTY

The Valley jumpsuit is rated as " intermediate ". The instructions are ; as usual ; very detailed and you can get some help by following a video for the elastic casing and a photo tutorial for the bias binding ! It is a great pattern for an advanced beginner trying to stretch her skills. If you need to make alteration to the pattern to fit your measurements (Lengthening or shortening, enlarging crotch or grading between sizes) you can follow these tutorials from the blog.

THE VIEWS

This pattern only has one view but I trust your creativity, I'm sure you'll be able to make a beautiful summer version with short sleeves, or a cute romper by shortenning the bottom, you could even hack it into a dress!

SUGESTED FABRICS AND NOTIONS

Light weight denim or corduroy for a more structured look and  light weight linen, hemp or ramie or light weight wovens such as chambray, poplin. You can also go for very fluid fabrics such as tencel, cupro, rayon.

The fabrics used for the samples are:

Dusty Pink: 100 % linen grown, weaved and dyed in Belgium from the shop Les embobineuses.
Blue with stripes: Indian hand blocked printed coton poplin from the shop Tissu indiens.
Indigo Blue: Recycled coton and linen bed sheets hand dyed with indigo.

Well, that’s all I can think of for now. Enjoy!
