New pattern: The Partner overalls
I'm so excited to finally share with you my newest sewing pattern, the Partner overalls.
I've been dreaming of utility overalls like this one for years. As you may already know, I'm a big fan of utility / french workwear clothes. The Partner overalls will join the chore coat Julien, the boilersuit Jean-Paul and the James sailor jacket in my workwear collection. It is also my seventh pattern available from size 32 to 58 (UK 4 - 30 and US 0 - 26).
The Partner overalls are inspired by workwear like carpenter pants and gardening overalls. They are straight-legged with an adjustable cinch tie at the waist. The pattern has four patch pockets, including a large pocket that wraps around the back. The hem is drafted to be full length, but looks stylish when rolled above the ankle as well. These overalls are practical, comfortable and designed to last. The drafting for range 1 and 2 is different, the overalls for range 2 (46-58) require a chest dart and two front waist darts as well as a slightly rounder center front to accommodate a larger midsection.
Optional: Sew the overalls with elastic at the bottom of the strap for added comfort and so you can move more freely.
PATTERN DIFFICULTY
The Partner overalls sewing pattern is rated as " intermediate ". The instructions are ; as usual ; very detailed and you can get some help by following a photo sew along on the journal ! It is a great pattern for an advanced beginner trying to stretch its skills by sewing denim and trying topstitching. The pattern’s ease at the waist allows it to be put on without any buttons, buttonholes or zippers which makes it quite easy to sew for an intermediate sewist.
THE VIEWS
This pattern only has one view but I trust your creativity, I'm sure you'll be able to make a beautiful summer version in linen or a cute winter version in corduroy. You could also hack it into shorts overalls or even into a pinafore very easily!
