New pattern: the Jean-Paul boilersuit expansion pack
What's an expansion pack?
This pattern is a supplement to the original Jean-Paul boilersuit pattern, and allows you to make a number of Jean-Paul variations using a combination of original pattern pieces and new Expansion Pack pattern pieces. Please note that this pattern cannot be used without the Jean-Paul original pattern.
What's included in the expansion pack?
- The front bodice with hidden placket
- The front leg with slanted pocket
- A 3/4 sleeve
- A dress option
- A drawstring (if you already own the original pattern and just want to add a drawstring to the waistband, you don't need to buy the expansion pack, you can probably do it by yourself as it is a pretty simple hack ;-)
- The instructions for the new pattern pieces.
View 1: short sleeves coverall with hidden button placket and fly, front and back patch pockets and drawstring.
The sewing level stays the same: advanced intermediate, however, some views like view 2 or 3 requieres less pattern pieces and are therefore easier and faster to sew.
View 3: short sleeves dress with hidden button placket and fly, slanted pockets and chest patch pockets and a drawstring.
I recommand lighter-weight fabrics than the original pattern. Due to the drawstring, it is better to use light-weight and fluid fabrics. The slanted pocket option allows you to use fabrics such as tencel, crepe or rayon.

My goal for the three Jean-Paul's prototypes was to use thrifted fabrics or leftovers only. I used ancient cotton and linen sheets dyed with eucalyptus leaves or glanut for the boilersuits and leftovers for the dress.
