Penny, adding an elastic to the strap

If you want to add an elasticated part on the straps of the Penny overalls for more comfort and freedom of movement, you can follow the tutorial below. I do not recommend this method for children's sizes because the straps are already very short and inserting an elastic in this way would really not be aesthetic. You can start from height 152 cm (approx size 11 / 12 y.o).
You will need about 20 cm of flat elastic 35 mm wide and 20 cm of bias.
Shorten the strap: Fold the strap pattern piece to shorten it. For example, if you plan an elastic with a length of 8 cm, you make a fold of 5 cm. The strap is thus shortened by 10 cm.
Follow the instruction booklet until step 18.
Pin and secure the elastic with a zigzag stitch.
Cover with a stripe of bias, leaving 1 cm on either side. The bias is unfolded along the bib end.
Stitch.
Wrong side of the bib facing you, fold the side of the bias.
Then fold the bias.
Fold again by lifting the elastic.
Stitch to secure. It is a delicate operation, there are many layers. Remember to put a bobbin thread same color of the bias and it's also better to choose a matching thread for the spool.
Now go back to the instruction booklet step 19 to insert the elastic end into the strap.
