Pekka, enlarging sleeve

list In Alterations & Pattern hackings On

If you have larger biceps, you may want to measure the arm opening (minus seam allowance) to decide if you’ll have enough room. The opening is drafted with about 12,5 cm to 16 cm of ease; the global fit is a little closer to the body for the range 2 (sizes 46 to 58). If you’ll have less than 12 cm for the range 1 or  10 cm for the range 2, I would enlarge the opening.

To do that, drop the arm opening the desired amount on both sides equally. For example, if you need to add 1 cm of ease, drop the opening 0.5 cm on both sides. Make sure you add the same amount to the front and back shell and lining.

Make sure you add the same amount to the sleeve and sleeve lining so they fit the new larger arm opening. Again if you need to add 1 cm in total, enlarge the sleeve on 0.5 cm on each side.

Happy sewing!
