My pleated Jazz overalls

Recently, seamstress and blogger Emilie made the Jazz overalls with pleats instead of gathers at the waist. I loved her version, so I suggested that she makes a photo step by step sew along for my journal. You can check it out right here.
The step by step starts from the first step of sewing the Jazz overalls, it is not just about making the pleats but it will guide you all along the project. Making pleats instead of gathers is very easy. You don't need to hack the pattern pieces. Pictured below is a four front pleats and four back pleats version. In the sew along, Emilie shows you how to make two front folds and two back folds only, but that doesn't change much, the technique is pretty much the same!
The fabric used for this model comes from Cousette. It is a linen and cotton blend with a denim look. The T-shirt below is Jeanne. A boyfriend T-shirt with a cuff. It is sewn in a hemp and cotton blend jersey from Siebenblau.
I wanted the Jazz overalls to be a little more fitted at the waist so I made four tiny darts, two at the front and two at the back.
Pictured above is the Primo T-shirt with longer sleeves.
Happy sewing, Raphaëlle
